SENDAI - A male employee in his 60s was injured after being attacked by a bear while working on the grounds of a garden center in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, at around 8:30 a.m. on August 13.

A senior executive at the store, who spoke with the employee shortly after the attack, said it appeared that the man had been scratched in the face.

The employee suffered injuries to his face, hands and other areas.

The bear left the garden center grounds and fled toward nearby bushes, prompting authorities to maintain heightened vigilance in the surrounding area.
