TOKYO - Haneda Airport introduced two major changes on September 2, opening a new boarding facility at Terminal 1 while moving the checked-baggage deadline for all domestic flights to 30 minutes before departure.
The new North Satellite boarding facility at Terminal 1 began operations on September 2, with its first flight departing shortly after 7 a.m. as airport staff saw the aircraft off.
Completion of the North Satellite adds six boarding gates to Terminal 1, reducing the need for passengers to take buses from the terminal to aircraft parked at remote stands.
However, passengers may need to walk about 15 minutes from the nearest security checkpoint to some of the new boarding gates.
Haneda also tightened its checked-baggage rules for domestic flights on September 2. The deadline for checking baggage on all domestic services was moved from 20 minutes before departure to 30 minutes before departure.
Airlines are urging passengers to allow additional time when checking baggage before their flights.
