Call for Dismissal of Entire Board of Japan Clay Shooting Association

TOKYO, Jan 18 (News On Japan) - Mired by confusion and suspicions, the Japan Clay Shooting Association will hold a general meeting to discuss the potential dismissal of all directors over suspicions of inappropriate use of funds solicited from corporate sponsors.

The association has been embroiled in controversy after an anonymous letter accusing it of misconduct was sent to the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), alleging the misuse of funds raised from corporate sponsors for athlete strengthening in preparation for the Paris Olympics. An investigation by external lawyers has been ongoing amidst this turmoil.

Amidst these circumstances, more than one-fifth of the full members from the regional associations, totaling 15 individuals, have claimed that the association is not being managed properly and have requested the dismissal of all 20 directors. At a board meeting held in Tokyo on the 17th, the association decided to convene an extraordinary general meeting in February to resolve whether to dismiss all directors.

Additionally, there has been an intensification of internal strife within the board, with a faction opposing the current president putting forward a motion for his dismissal, which received a majority of votes. However, due to concerns over further turmoil, the conclusion was deferred.
