Oct 25 (Japan Today) - A 15-year-old boy who was arrested last Friday on suspicion of killing his 87-year-old grandfather and attempting to kill his 82-year-old grandmother at their home in Wako, Saitama Prefecture, has told police he also planned to kill a classmate from his school.
The third-year junior high school student, who lived in the same apartment with his grandparents, left home after attacking them last Thursday night. The boy's 53-year-old mother, who lives apart from her son, had gone to check up on her parents after being contacted by the grandmother.
The boy was taken into custody Friday morning 20 kilometers from his home near Kawagoe Station on the Tobu Tojo Line. When he was apprehended, he had four knives in a bag, including one bloodstained knife which police said was used to attack his grandparents.
Investigators said the boy has admitted to the charge of killing his grandfather and attempting to kill his grandmother. On Monday, police said the boy told them he had gone to the station to ambush and murder a classmate from his high school, Fuji TV reported.
