TOKYO, Jul 19 (News On Japan) - The global system failure has impacted domestic flights in Japan, with footage from the international check-in counters at Narita Airport showing long lines of passengers and significant congestion due to delays in check-in procedures.
Around 20 Jetstar Japan domestic flights scheduled for Friday evening have been canceled. Currently, there is no timeline for when the issue will be resolved.
Footage from Haneda Airport’s international terminal also shows heavy congestion, with many overseas travelers in the departure lobby and long lines of passengers with large luggage.
The connection to the system outage is unclear, but Japan Airlines experienced website issues starting around 2 PM on July 19th, preventing international flight reservations and purchases.
Domestic flight bookings using miles have also been affected.
According to Japan Airlines, there is no estimate for when the system will be restored. However, there are no reported impacts on operations such as flight cancellations at this time.
