TOKYO, Aug 08 (News On Japan) - NTT Data, a major IT company in Japan, is entering the capsule hotel business with a new initiative to analyze guests' sleep data.
The capsule hotel, operated by NTT Data, is equipped with infrared cameras, sound collection microphones, and sensors that detect body movements.
It measures guests' sleep states, such as the length of deep sleep and the number of apnea occurrences, and sends the data to them later.
The goal is to help improve guests' sleep while also using the obtained data to accelerate collaboration with other industries such as food and pharmaceuticals.
Additionally, the company is considering converting former telephone exchange buildings, previously used for fixed-line phone services, into similar hotels.
Japanese people are said to have the shortest sleep duration in the world, and there is a growing trend of businesses entering the sleep improvement market.
In the hotel industry, there is a trend of selling sleep-related services, such as AI analyzing brainwaves during stays and plans that offer specialized sleep tests.
