FUKUI, Aug 16 (News On Japan) - In the latest attack by wild dolphins in Fukui Prefecture, a man in his 20s was bitten in Mihama on Wednesday, leaving injuries to both hands, requiring five stitches on his left index finger, according to the Tsuruga Coast Guard.
Two other men also suffered abrasions on their sides and wrists after colliding with the dolphin.
A witness remarked, "It was quite surprising. I didn't expect it to come so close."
This season alone, 16 people have been injured by dolphins in Fukui Prefecture, more than twice the number reported last year.
