Toyota to Launch Woven City Operations This Fall

TOKYO - Toyota Motor Corporation announced on the 6th during a press conference in Las Vegas, USA, that it will officially begin full-scale testing of autonomous driving and other technologies at its near-future city, "Woven City," currently under construction in Shizuoka Prefecture, starting this fall.

Reporter Taguchi: "Toyota’s press conference is about to start. The venue is packed with media from around the world, highlighting the high level of attention the event has garnered."

Chairman Toyoda: "Woven City is a place where various new products and ideas can be invented and developed, serving as a test course for mobility solutions."

Ahead of the opening of CES, the world’s largest technology trade show, which will be open to the public from the 7th, Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda expressed his commitment to accelerating the development of cutting-edge technologies, including autonomous vehicles, robots, and AI.

Starting this fall, Woven City will initially house approximately 100 Toyota employees and their families, with plans to expand its capacity to around 2,000 residents, including researchers and entrepreneurs. Additionally, it was revealed that five companies, including Daikin Industries and Nissin Foods, will participate in the testing.
