Studio Ghibli Artwork Unveiled as Aichi Celebrates Expo Anniversary

NAGOYA, Apr 13 (News On Japan) - A tapestry inspired by Spirited Away, a classic Studio Ghibli film, has gone on display at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art in Nagoya's Higashi Ward, commemorating the 20th anniversary of Expo 2005 Aichi.

The tapestry, produced by the International Centre for Aubusson Tapestry in France, depicts the iconic scene where protagonist Chihiro confronts the character No-Face. It is the first time this piece has been exhibited in Japan.

The display is part of a special collaboration between Aichi’s 20th anniversary commemorative events and Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai.

The tapestry will remain on display through August 17th.

Separately, a tapestry portraying a scene from Princess Mononoke, also produced by the Aubusson Tapestry Centre, will be exhibited at the France Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, which opens on April 13th.
