Sakamoto Days | Part 1 All the Food

Jun 24 (Netflix Anime) - Once the greatest hitman of all, Taro Sakamoto retired in the name of love. But when his past catches up, he must fight to protect his beloved family.

Sakamoto Days follows the story of Taro Sakamoto, once the most feared and legendary hitman in Japan. In his prime, Sakamoto was an unstoppable assassin known throughout the criminal underworld for his unmatched skills, cold efficiency, and absolute lethality. However, everything changed when he met and fell in love with a woman who worked at a convenience store. Choosing love and family over violence, Sakamoto abruptly retired from his life of crime, got married, settled down, and had a child. Over time, he gained significant weight, grew a friendly demeanor, and began running a humble neighborhood convenience store, fully committed to living a quiet, peaceful life with his family.

Despite his dramatic lifestyle shift, the shadow of Sakamoto’s past never fully disappears. Many figures from the criminal world still remember the once-feared assassin, and some are unable to accept his retirement. Old rivals, former employers, and new enemies frequently emerge to drag him back into the violent world he left behind. As threats close in, Sakamoto finds himself constantly forced to protect his family and his peaceful life using his lethal skills, though he vows never to kill again. His extraordinary combat abilities, quick reflexes, and tactical genius remain intact, allowing him to disarm, disable, or outsmart dangerous assassins without taking any lives.

Sakamoto’s former colleague, Shin Asakura, a young assassin with telepathic abilities, soon becomes one of his closest allies. Shin, initially sent to assassinate Sakamoto, quickly recognizes Sakamoto’s incredible strength and peaceful resolve, eventually joining him as a loyal friend and employee at the store. Together, they form an unlikely team, facing off against waves of deadly assassins, criminal organizations, and secret societies that threaten the fragile normalcy of Sakamoto’s new life.

The series balances intense action with humor, blending thrilling combat sequences with slice-of-life comedy. Sakamoto's quiet domestic scenes with his loving wife and daughter often contrast sharply with the chaotic battles he must fight outside of his home. His interactions with a growing cast of eccentric allies, including the skilled sniper Lu Xiaotang and the mechanical genius Heisuke Mashimo, add to the lighthearted tone while expanding the scope of his adventures.

A major element in the series is the "Order," an elite group of assassins tasked with maintaining the balance of the underworld. The Order includes powerful individuals who are both allies and threats to Sakamoto. Over time, deeper conspiracies emerge within the assassin world, particularly involving the secret organization called "X," which seeks to topple the Order and reshape the assassin society according to its own twisted ideals. As Sakamoto and his friends uncover layers of betrayal, hidden agendas, and dangerous plots, they are drawn deeper into the conflict, forcing Sakamoto to once again face the violent world he abandoned.

Throughout the series, Sakamoto remains a compelling character—a man burdened by his violent past, yet determined to uphold his promise of never killing again. His creativity in non-lethal combat, using everything from rubber bullets to household items in battle, reflects both his deadly skillset and his commitment to his new values. His family remains the emotional core of the story, and his love for them is the driving force behind his fierce determination to overcome every threat.
