Sep 18 (News On Japan) - Meta Platforms, the US tech giant that operates Instagram, announced on September 17th the launch of its first AI smart glasses with a built-in display on the lens.
Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg introduced the new device, named the 'Meta Ray-Ban Display.'
The right lens now incorporates a display for the first time, allowing users to view photos and messages directly. The AI also recognizes conversations and can project the text onto the lens, making the device a potential assistive tool for people with hearing impairments.
When paired with a dedicated wristband, users can send messages and adjust volume through hand movements.
The glasses will be priced at 799 dollars, or about 120,000 yen, and will go on sale in the United States on September 30th. The release date in Japan has not yet been decided.
