TOKYO, Oct 11 (News On Japan) - Hitachi announced on October 10 that it will focus on developing “physical AI,” a form of artificial intelligence capable of perceiving and responding optimally to real-world conditions.
The company currently offers an AI-based service known as HMAX, which is used for maintenance and inspection in the railway sector across eight countries, including the United Kingdom. Drawing on expertise gained from these operations, Hitachi plans to expand the use of HMAX to a wide range of industries, including energy, finance, and public services, as part of its broader strategy to apply physical AI technology beyond its existing business domains.
