NAHA - High school students in Okinawa took part in a workshop organized by Okinawa Cellular on September 22, using generative AI to develop solutions to local community problems, with a focus on improving access to a public sports facility in Uruma City.

Students from Gushikawa Commercial High School examined challenges faced by users of the city's general gymnasium and discussed ways to address them.

The students identified problems such as high transportation costs to reach the gymnasium and the difficulty of checking how crowded the facility is. Using ideas generated by AI as a reference, they developed concepts for services designed to address these issues.

The three-day workshop concluded with a presentation session in which each group shared its proposals and fresh perspectives on solving community challenges.
