Ishikawa, Jan 31 (News On Japan) - In Wajima City, a convenience store has reopened its doors for the first time in a month, bringing a semblance of normalcy with its onigiri and bento boxes back on shelves.
The FamilyMart in Yokochimachi, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, had been closed since the earthquake struck on the first of the month. Cut-off roads had prevented any deliveries, but the store resumed operations on the 31st.
With the restoration of electricity, the store is now also able to sell perishables like bento boxes and sweets.
According to store personnel, products like instant noodles, which had been running low, were restocked in greater quantities than usual.
In Wajima City, 13 other stores are still closed. The plan is to gradually reopen them as safety checks are completed.
This development represents a small but significant step in the community’s recovery efforts, offering both essential supplies and a sense of returning normalcy to the residents amid the ongoing challenges of disaster recovery.
