Daihatsu to Resume Production at Kyoto Plant

KYOTO, Feb 01 (News On Japan) - Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the resumption of production at its Kyoto plant from February 12 for two van models. The company had halted production at its four domestic plants at the end of last December, following the discovery of fraudulent practices in vehicle certification tests. The resumption of production for the two van models at the Kyoto factory comes after the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism confirmed their compliance with safety standards.

Daihatsu is considering resuming production of four models, including the 'Mira e:S', at its Oita factory in the latter half of February. The company aims to resume production when it can confirm the status of its suppliers and ensure quality standards are met.

However, for models that have yet to be verified as compliant with safety standards, there is no scheduled timeline for resuming production. The company faces the task of regaining trust and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards in the wake of the scandal.

This announcement marks a significant step in Daihatsu's recovery from the recent setback, reflecting its commitment to upholding safety and quality in its manufacturing processes. The resumption of production is crucial for the company's stability and the broader automotive industry, signaling a move towards normalcy after the disruption caused by the scandal.
