TOKYO, Jul 17 (News On Japan) - 23-year-old Kaishu Sano, a defensive midfielder on Japan's national soccer team, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo.
Kaishu Sano, who recently signed up for Bundesliga club Mainz 05 on a four-year contract, along with two acquaintances in their 20s, is suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in her 30s at a hotel in Yushima, Bunkyo Ward, around 4 a.m. on July 14th.
The incident came to light when the woman called the police emergency number 110, reporting that she had been sexually assaulted. Police officers who rushed to the scene apprehended Sano and the two other men as they were leaving the hotel.
The three men had reportedly been dining with the woman shortly before the incident occurred.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police have not disclosed whether Sano and his acquaintances admit to the charges. The authorities are conducting a detailed investigation into the events leading up to the incident.
