PARIS, Aug 06 (News On Japan) - Shinnosuke Oka, in his debut appearance, won the gold medal in the men's horizontal bar with a score of 14.533 points in the event finals on August 5th.
This victory marks the second consecutive win for Japan in this event, following Daiki Hashimoto's victory at the Tokyo Olympics. This achievement also makes Oka the first Japanese gymnast to win three crowns (team all-around, individual all-around, and event finals) since Sawao Kato accomplished this feat at the Munich Olympics 52 years ago in 1972. Additionally, Oka secured a bronze medal in the parallel bars with a score of 15.300 points, marking the first time in 20 years that a Japanese gymnast has reached the podium in this event.
