TOKYO, Aug 23 (News On Japan) - Nakamura Sumire, a 15-year-old Go prodigy who recently moved to South Korea, will become the first Japanese player to compete in South Korea's highest prize women's title match, according to an exclusive report by JNN.
Nakamura, who holds the record as the youngest player to win a women's title in Japan, relocated to South Korea in March. She has achieved 27 wins in 32 matches against female players and currently ranks 6th in the women’s standings. Sources revealed that she will participate in the "Women's Kiseong Tournament" starting on August 24.
The "Women's Kiseong Tournament" is the most prestigious women's title match in South Korea, offering the highest prize money. Nakamura's challenge marks the first time a Japanese player will compete in this event.
The Korea Baduk Association commented, "We look forward to seeing what kind of explosive performance she will deliver."
