OSAKA, Apr 19 (News On Japan) - Scotland, a region of the United Kingdom known for Scotch whisky, held a business exchange event at the Osaka-Kansai Expo in an effort to deepen ties with Japan through its growing video game industry.
Scotland has been nurturing its gaming sector since the 1980s and is home to several internationally successful titles, including "Minecraft." On April 17th, the Scottish Government hosted an event inside the UK Pavilion at the Expo, bringing together representatives from seven Scottish game companies and Japanese gaming firms to explore potential business collaborations.
A Scottish Government minister responsible for business said, "We want to have many opportunities to engage with Japan, which has a significant presence in the global gaming market."
The UK Pavilion plans to host future events spotlighting the other three nations that make up the United Kingdom.
