Hana Sugisaki Wins Individual Award at 62nd Galaxy Awards

TOKYO, Jun 05 (News On Japan) - Hana Sugisaki appeared at the 62nd Galaxy Awards ceremony held in Tokyo on June 2nd, where she was honored with the Individual Award in the television category. The accolade, presented by the Broadcast Critics Association, recognized her performances in the dramas "Unmet: A Neurosurgeon's Diary" and "Diamond Sleeping in the Sea."

Sugisaki began her career in childhood under the name Hana Kajiura with Stardust Promotion but briefly stepped away from acting before re-entering the industry in 2011. At that point, she joined the Ken-On agency and adopted the stage name Hana Sugisaki, inspired by her admiration for actress Mirai Shida.

Her breakout role came in the 2016 film Her Love Boils Bathwater, which earned her major recognition, including the Best Supporting Actress award at the Japan Academy Film Prize. That performance solidified her reputation as one of Japan's most promising young talents. She went on to star in films such as Blade of the Immortal and voiced the main character in Mary and the Witch's Flower.

In television, Sugisaki drew widespread attention with her lead role in the NHK morning drama Ochoyan, where she portrayed an actress based on the life of Chieko Naniwa. She further showcased her range in the psychological thriller Ichiko, which won her acclaim for its emotional intensity. Her performances have been consistently praised for their depth and nuance, and she continues to be a leading figure among the younger generation of Japanese actors.
