Nagoya Castle Admission to Double to 1,000 Yen

NAGOYA - Nagoya Castle welcomed crowds of domestic and international visitors on September 27, the final holiday before its adult admission fee doubles from 500 yen to 1,000 yen in October.

Despite unfavorable weather, some visitors said they had come specifically to see the castle before the price increase.

A visitor from Miyagi Prefecture said, "I heard the price was going up in October, so I thought I should come and see it. If the admission fee doubles, I think there may be people who are less inclined to visit."

Another visitor from Gunma Prefecture, who came with a great-grandchild, said the increase from October 1 was unavoidable.

The castle also hosted an event introducing traditional culture rooted in the Owari region, including Nagoya Yuzen dyeing, Arimatsu shibori tie-dyeing and samurai culture.

On September 27, visitors were able to try an Arimatsu shibori technique used to create kaleidoscope-like patterns.

The cultural experiences will continue to be available during the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.
