Mother, 2 young children found dead in Fukuoka home

Jun 07 (Japan Today) - A 38-year-old woman and her two children were found dead in their home in Ogori, Fukuoka Prefecture, police said Wednesday. Police said the mother, Yukiko Nakata, her son Ryosuke, 9, and her daughter Miyu, 6, were strangled to death, Fuji TV reported.

Nakata's husband, who is a police officer, said everything appeared normal and that his family were still sleeping when he left for work at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

The bodies were found at around 9:20 a.m. by Yukiko's sister. When the children did not show up at school, the school called Nakata's husband who called his wife's sister and asked her to check on them.

Yukiko was found face-up on the kitchen floor. The children were found lying on futons on the second floor.
