Jun 21 (NHK) - Japan's Air Self-Defense Force invited the public to view a drill for deploying ground-based PAC3 interceptor missiles.
The anti-ballistic missile drill took place on Wednesday at the SDF's Camp Asaka in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Nine vehicles, including mobile launchers and radars of the PAC3 system, arrived at the training field a little after 6 AM. The vehicles had traveled on public roads from another SDF facility.
The PAC 3 unit then prepared for ballistic missile interception, checking each step of the procedure.
Japan has 17 PAC3 units deployed across the nation. The Defense Ministry plans to hold deployment drills at places other than SDF facilities, such as US bases.
