Jul 03 (Japan Today) - A 31-year-old man has been arrested for spraying a taxi driver with a fire extinguisher and attempting to flee the scene by stealing the vehicle in Tokyo's Arakawa Ward.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 5 p.m. Saturday. Fuji TV reported that the suspect, identified as Kiichi Moriya, 31, a company employee, sprayed the 22-year-old male taxi driver along Meiji-dori, pushed the driver out and then made off with the cab.
Police said Moriya was heavily intoxicated when he got into the taxi. After getting into an argument with the driver, Moriya grabbed the fire extinguisher inside the vehicle and unleashed the contents within the cab's interior.
Moriya forced the driver out and attempted to flee by driving away. However, after crashing the taxi, he was detained by pedestrians.
