Jul 17 (NHK) - Hundreds of people were taken to hospitals across Japan with symptoms of heatstroke on Sunday, as the intense hot weather continues.
Fire departments and police say at least 846 people received medical treatment in Japan's 47 prefectures.
A 59-year-old man was found unconscious in a parking lot in Ota City in Gunma Prefecture, north of Tokyo.
The highest temperature of the day -- 36 degrees Celsius -- was recorded in Mobara City in Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo. Daytime highs exceeded 35 degrees in many other cities across Japan.
