Jul 18 (NHK) - Nearly 1,000 people have attended a party to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the popular Japanese dress-up doll Licca.
The event was held on Monday in Urayasu City, near Tokyo.
The participants brought invitation cards they got 25 years ago. These were included in a limited edition of the doll released in 1992.
About 50 dolls dressed in various styles of the past were displayed at the venue. The 1975 edition wore a mini skirt and the 1995 one had loose socks that were popular among schoolgirls at that time.
One family says they bought the limited edition when their child was born and it's hard to believe that 25 years have passed.
Launched in 1967, more than 60 million Licca Dolls have been sold.
