Yahoo Japan launches game platform

Jul 19 (NHK) - IT firm Yahoo Japan has announced a new web-based platform that enables people to play games just by connecting to the internet.

The company says it started providing 39 game titles, after partnering with 52 game firms.

The so-called browser games do not require dedicated game machines or smartphone apps. A player needs only a web connection.

Yahoo Japan's Senior Executive Vice President Kentaro Kawabe said people can freely play those games anywhere at any time. He expressed his hope to contribute to the future of the entire game industry.
