Jul 20 (NHK) - Japanese electronics maker Fujitsu has developed a wristwatch sensor that warns the wearer of the risk of heatstroke.
The device was developed for people who work outdoors in the summer heat, such as construction workers, security guards and farmers.
Its 7 sensors detect and collect data on the wearer's heart rate, workload, surrounding temperature and humidity. The device vibrates when it determines the wearer is in danger.
It also notifies the worker's boss or manager, through their PC or smartphone, of the wearer's risk of heatstroke on a 4-stage scale.
This allows the worker to rest or take time off to drink water.
The system uses artificial intelligence that can make accurate assessments by combining previously known risks and personal data collected from the wearer.
