Jul 27 (Japan Today) - Police in Tokyo are questioning Japanese actress Mariko Ishihara, 53, on suspicion of stealing a bento (boxed lunch) and several food items from a convenience store in Tokyo.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on July 22 when Ishihara was in a convenience store in Sumida Ward. She attempted to leave the store without paying for the bento and a bottle of tea, Fuji TV reported. A clerk who witnessed the alleged shoplifting notified police by phone, and the actress was apprehended and taken to the police station.
Police said Ishihara has admitted to the allegation but has not yet been charged.
