Mar 09 (NHK) - A theme park in western Japan says it will open a new section dedicated to the popular video game character Mario on March 18.
The area includes a ride based on Mario Kart, and is part of an investment of over 550 million dollars by park operator, Universal Studios Japan.
Super Nintendo World was supposed to open in July last year. But officials delayed the opening until early February due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A further delay was announced in January, after Osaka Prefecture was placed under a state of emergency.
The lifting of the restriction last week cleared the way for the attraction to open about eight months after the original plan.
The number of daily visitors to the theme park is limited to 10,000, and masks are mandatory.
