Jul 01 (NHK) - Major League Baseball star Ohtani Shohei who plays for the Los Angeles Angels hit two home runs in consecutive at bats during a game Tuesday.
The Japanese two-way player now has 28 home runs this season, currently the most in MLB.
Ohtani started as designated hitter, batting second, in a game against the New York Yankees in New York on Tuesday.
Ohtani hit his 27th home run in his second at bat in the third inning. He hit his 28th home run in his third at bat in the fifth inning.
But the Yankees beat the Angels 11-5.
In the final round of fan voting to select the American League's designated hitter for the 2021 All-Star Game, Ohtani is on top with 63 percent of the votes.
