Tokushima, Jan 09 (News On Japan) - A popular gift known as the 'Jewel of the Greenhouse,' hand-picked "Sakura Momo Strawberries" have finally ripened after delays due to warm weather.
In Tokushima Prefecture, the peak shipping season for the special product "Sakura Momo Strawberry" is underway.
Large, ripe strawberries are carefully picked one by one to avoid any damage. In Sanaogouchi Village, Tokushima Prefecture, the "Sakura Momo Strawberry," a specialty of the region, is being harvested and shipped in earnest. Known for their juicy, sweet, and plump berries, these strawberries are often referred to as the "Jewel of the Greenhouse" and are popular as gift items.
The harvested strawberries are sorted by size and packed into boxes. Although the growth was delayed due to high temperatures last autumn, the strawberries have ripened into their usual sweet flavor. The shipping, primarily to the Keihanshin area (Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe), will continue until early May. The strawberries will be sold in department stores and markets.
