Elementary School Girl Thwarts Robbery, American Man Arrested

FUKUOKA, Jul 24 (News On Japan) - A third-grade girl successfully fended off a robbery in a residential area of Fukuoka City on Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, the girl was riding her bicycle around 2 p.m. when a man suddenly appeared and tried to steal her backpack from the front basket.

The girl resisted, reportedly shouting, 'Stop!' and managed to retrieve her backpack from the man's grasp.

The suspect fled the scene without taking anything. However, police later found a man whose appearance matched the suspect's description and questioned him in connection with another incident.

The man, identified as Mohamed Oumaam, a self-proclaimed American national, was arrested. He denies the allegations, stating, 'I did not try to steal the bag. I did not even touch the bag.'
