Niconico Resumes Service After Two-Month Cyberattack Hiatus

TOKYO - Niconico, the video-sharing service, has fully resumed operations after being offline for nearly two months due to a cyberattack.

Niconico Resumes Service After Two-Month Cyberattack Hiatus

In June, publishing giant KADOKAWA suffered a cyberattack that led to a data breach involving personal information held by the group. The attack also caused system disruptions, resulting in the suspension of services like Niconico for almost two months.

Dwango, the company operating Niconico, completed restoration work and resumed the service on Monday. The temporary service currently in operation will now be discontinued.

Dwango also announced that other services will gradually resume by the end of this month. Additionally, the company plans to compensate paying members by refunding the membership fees for the period during which services were unavailable.
