Chaos at New Chitose Airport as Lost Scissors Cause Major Disruption

HOKKAIDO, Aug 20 (News On Japan) - Widespread disruptions occurred at Hokkaido's New Chitose Airport last Saturday after a pair of scissors went missing, leading to a re-screening of passengers and widespread confusion. The airport's operating company announced that the missing scissors were found the following day.

According to Hokkaido Airport, the scissors were discovered on the morning of August 18th by an employee of the store where they were lost, during a second search.

The circumstances surrounding the loss are still under investigation.

The incident caused 36 flights canceled and 201 flights delayed over the two-day period of August 17th and 18th. Hokkaido Airport has committed to investigating the cause and preventing a recurrence.
