TOKYO, Oct 02 (News On Japan) - SoftBank Group is advancing its investment in artificial intelligence (AI) by making AI the core of its strategy. According to U.S. media reports, SoftBank Vision Fund, an investment fund under the SoftBank Group, has agreed to invest in OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.

This marks SoftBank Group's first funding to OpenAI, with the investment amounting to $500 million, approximately 715 billion yen.

OpenAI has been actively seeking substantial funding for its AI development, including ongoing negotiations to raise $6.5 billion (approximately 930 billion yen) from various sources, including Microsoft. This investment push aims to secure the large capital necessary for AI advancement.
