TOKYO, May 08 (News On Japan) - Tokyo International School has announced plans to relocate to a new, purpose-built campus in Takanawa Gateway City, with the move scheduled for August 2026. The relocation marks a major milestone in the school's growth strategy, aimed at expanding its educational offerings and embracing Tokyo’s emerging innovation district.
The new campus will be located within the Takanawa Gateway City Residence, near the recently opened Takanawa Gateway Station on the JR Yamanote Line. The site is approximately eight minutes by car or ten minutes by bicycle from the current campus in Minami Azabu, making it easily accessible for students and families.
The relocation comes as the school prepares to expand its academic program. Tokyo International School currently offers classes up to Grade 10 and plans to add Grade 11 in the 2025–2026 school year, followed by Grade 12 in 2026–2027. This expansion will complete the International Baccalaureate continuum, offering students a full pathway from early years to high school graduation.
Takanawa Gateway City is designed as a hub for international collaboration and cutting-edge development. The surrounding area will feature advanced facilities in fields such as environmental sustainability, robotics, and medical technology. Students at the new campus will also benefit from access to nearby public spaces and facilities including the 53 Playable Park, a convention center, a learning hub, and a major international hotel.
The school’s move reflects a broader commitment to preparing students for a global future, emphasizing both academic excellence and community engagement in a dynamic new urban setting.
