TOKYO, Mar 17 (News On Japan) - Yamayoshi Confectionery said on March 17th that it has suspended production of its flagship products, including its popular potato chips "Wasabeef," due to difficulties in securing fuel.
The company cited worsening conditions surrounding Iran, which have made it difficult to procure heavy oil used to operate boilers essential for frying potato chips. As a result, production has been halted for most products since March 12th, with only a limited number of items continuing to be manufactured.
Yamayoshi stated that it is working to secure fuel supplies and adjust its production system, adding that it is making every effort to resume operations as soon as possible.
