TOKYO - Japan's corporate goods prices rose 7.6% in August from a year earlier, remaining above 7% for a third consecutive month as escalating tensions in the Middle East pushed up prices for petroleum, coal and chemical products.
The Bank of Japan said on September 11 that the domestic Corporate Goods Price Index, which measures prices of goods traded between companies, stood at 136.1 in August.
The year-on-year increase remained above 7% for the third straight month.
Higher prices for petroleum and coal products and chemical products reflected heightened tensions in the Middle East.
Prices for nonferrous metals, including copper and aluminum, also increased.
