Dec 28 (NHK) - The Los Angeles Dodgers announced a 12-year contract with Japanese pitcher Yamamoto Yoshinobu on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old right-hander was seeking to move to Major League Baseball from Japan's Orix Buffaloes.
The Dodgers quoted him as saying, "I am truly excited to wear Dodger Blue and can't wait to play in front of a packed Dodger Stadium."
US media have reported that the contract is worth 325 million dollars, the most guaranteed money ever given to an MLB pitcher.
Yamamoto is set to team up with Japanese star Ohtani Shohei, who recently joined the Dodgers.
