Jun 10 (Japan Times) - The Tokyo government said it confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, keeping the daily count under 20 for three consecutive days.
Keeping the weekly average of daily cases under 20 is one of Tokyo's own criteria for easing business closure and stay-at-home requests.
Tokyo reported 13 and 14 cases on Monday and Sunday, respectively.
The daily count for the capital has been in the double digits for nine consecutive days.
In an effort to track the infection routes and prevent possible clusters, the Tokyo government is planning to set up a system for those working at nightlife establishments to regularly take coronavirus tests.
According to local media reports, 59 cases, or about 40 percent of 147 new infections confirmed in Tokyo between June 1 to June 7, were nightlife entertainment workers.
