Naked Man Tied to 20 Crimes in 90 Minutes, One Dead, Several Injured

Saitama, Apr 24 (News On Japan) - A man found wandering naked in Saitama Prefecture has been arrested after a string of violent incidents, including a fatal hit-and-run and an attempted abduction, unfolded within roughly 90 minutes on April 21st.

Police believe the man, identified as Daisuke Nishimura, 48, is linked to more than 20 separate cases across several cities.

Nishimura was sent to prosecutors on April 23rd on suspicion of assault after unlawfully entering a cram school in Soka City at around 9:30 p.m. and injuring two people, including a female junior high school student. His erratic behavior had been reported beginning around 8:00 p.m., when a caller to police said a "tattooed man was slowly driving through a residential neighborhood in a suspicious manner."

By the time of the cram school incident, police had received reports of multiple incidents involving Nishimura, including a fatal hit-and-run in Saitama City. In that case, two motorcycles were struck in quick succession. One of the victims, 46-year-old company employee Mitsunobu Yoshida, died, while a 45-year-old man suffered a serious bone fracture.

In a separate incident in Warabi City, a vehicle crashed into the entrance of a convenience store. Witnesses say a naked man was rampaging and appeared to attempt to drag a child into a car before the child escaped. The man reportedly shouted loudly, collided with three to four cars while fleeing, and continued driving erratically.

Later in Kawaguchi City, the suspect allegedly jumped onto the hood of a car and tried to open the driver’s side door. He then reportedly stole the vehicle, leaving the female driver in her 40s with minor injuries.

Police sources say the series of incidents resulted in one death and injuries to about ten others.

During questioning, Nishimura denied the allegations regarding the cram school intrusion, saying only, "I shouldn’t say anything about that."

Separately, in Yokohama, police are searching for Satoshi Tamura, a 50-year-old senior member of the Inagawa-kai crime syndicate, who fled his home just before a scheduled police raid. On April 22nd, Tamura was caught on camera leaving his house wearing a patterned jacket and smoking a cigarette. Moments later, he evaded police by fleeing in a white Toyota MIRAI fuel cell vehicle.

Surveillance footage later showed the car speeding away from the area. As of April 23rd, Tamura remains at large.
