Exploring Naha Through a Puzzle Adventure Game

May 16, 2025 (News On Japan) - A city-wide puzzle-solving game will soon begin in Naha as part of efforts to boost tourism and help participants rediscover the charm of the area.

Titled "NAHA Mystery WORLD," the game allows players to explore around 20 locations across the city using a puzzle-solving kit and a smartphone. Players search for hidden clues at each spot to solve mysteries and advance the story.

The initiative is part of a local project by Okinawa Prefecture, jointly developed by construction company Fukuchigumi and Tokyo-based firm FUNSPIRITS.

Fukuchigumi President Kazuhito Fukuchi said, "It's a mystery game designed to help people enjoy the region’s history and culture and come to love Naha even more."

Ahead of the official launch on May 23rd, a trial session was held on May 14th. Although the game is intended for beginners to intermediate players, some found it more challenging than expected.

One male participant said, "It’s actually quite hard. We’re all working together, saying things like ‘Maybe this’ or ‘No, that’s not it,’ and doing our best."

A female participant added, "When you have a breakthrough, it's really fun. It brings you to places you wouldn't normally visit without a specific purpose, so I think that's a great aspect."

The puzzle kit will go on sale starting May 23rd and will be available at the Naha City Tourism Association and participating hotels around the city.
