NAGOYA, Dec 11 (News On Japan) - Amid a surge in bear sightings and related incidents nationwide, Nagoya-based Lets Corporation has drawn attention for its newly developed “AI Kuma-san Camera Pro,” a monitoring device priced at 437,000 yen for commercial use.
The system uses AI to detect bears as far as 100 meters away and issues warnings through light and sound, offering a level of accuracy that allows it to distinguish bears from dogs with a reported recognition rate of 90 to 95 percent.
The company applied AI technology cultivated through its work on security cameras and trained the system using a large volume of images gathered at a bear park in Gifu Prefecture. Reservations began on November 7th, and the firm has already received orders from accommodation facilities and universities in the Tohoku region. Aiming to sell 1,000 units per year, Lets mobilized its entire workforce to achieve product release within the year, earning praise for its flexible development approach amid rising demand for bear-management measures.
