FamilyMart Launches DIY Christmas Cake

TOKYO - FamilyMart will introduce its first do-it-yourself Christmas cake for the 2026 holiday season, allowing customers to decorate their own cakes as the convenience store chain seeks to attract demand for affordable, at-home celebrations.

With Christmas falling on a weekday in 2026, FamilyMart expects more consumers to celebrate at home rather than dine out, creating an opportunity to offer cakes that families can customize with their favorite decorations.

The new product comes without toppings, allowing customers to add their own fruit, chocolate, cream, or other decorations according to their preferences.

By eliminating ready-made toppings, FamilyMart aims to keep prices low while responding to rising living costs that are putting pressure on household budgets.

The company hopes the combination of affordability, convenience, and the enjoyment of decorating cakes at home will appeal to consumers looking for a simple way to celebrate Christmas without spending heavily on traditional decorated cakes.
