May 09 (NHK) - In Japan, local authorities are continuing their search for a man and his son who have been missing for 2 days in a mountain range in Niigata Prefecture.
About 40 police and rescue workers entered the mountains early on Tuesday morning to resume the search.
Police say Koya Shibuya and his son Sora went hiking in the Gozu mountain range on Saturday. Family members last heard from Shibuya on Sunday morning when he called to say they were going to descend.
Police say a hiking plan written by Shibuya was found at an entry point to one of the mountains.
Hikers have also reported seeing a pair that appeared to be the father and son on the trail on Saturday afternoon.
A helicopter search is also underway, as nearly 150 centimeters of snow still remains near the top of the mountain.
