Oct 07 (NHK) - A Japanese government-backed trade group is helping small and medium-sized businesses reach Amazon shoppers in the US. The organization is launching a webpage on the e-commerce giant's site called "Japan Store."
The Japan External Trade Organization, or JETRO, says it will make the site available next month.
Japanese businesses will be able to sell items like cosmetics and food to American customers through the store. The service comes with a fee for companies. Amazon will assist with delivery.
JETRO will also cover part of the costs for firms advertising their items.
Amazon's US site is said to have nearly half a billion users a month.
JETRO says it wants to give smaller Japanese businesses a boost as many have been struggling with sagging demand amid the pandemic.
