Feb 19 (CNA) - The International Atomic Energy Agency said it has made "significant progress" as it reviews Japan's plans to release treated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
The agency has endorsed the water's release, which is expected to begin as early as March 2023, but neighbouring countries have expressed concerns. The IAEA has not yet determined whether the plan by the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is safe. It said it will analyse collected water samples at three different laboratories, and compare with data collected in Japan and release a report at the end of April.
