Alphard Stolen from Mayor's Garage

IBARAKI, Jul 09, 2024 (News On Japan) - An Alphard vehicle used by the mayor of Shimotsuma City, Ibaraki Prefecture, has been reported stolen from the city hall garage. The garage lock was found broken, and police are investigating the incident as a theft.

According to Shimotsuma City officials, a male staff member discovered the broken lock around 8 a.m. on the 8th, and noticed that the black Alphard used by Mayor Hiroshi Kikuchi for official duties was missing.

The vehicle had been used by the deputy mayor the previous day for official business and was returned to the garage by the driver around 10 p.m. The vehicle and garage were both locked at that time.

Police are reviewing security camera footage from the area as part of their investigation.

The garage also housed five other official vehicles, including a Crown and a Hiace, none of which were damaged.
