TOKYO, Jul 12 (News On Japan) - A compliance training session for host clubs in Tokyo's Kabukicho district was conducted in response to a series of "urikake" problems, where malicious host clubs saddled customers with exorbitant debts.
The training session was organized by an NPO that provides consultation services to women facing troubles with host clubs and similar establishments.
Shinichiro Kawamatsu, Director of the NPO Night Princess Guardian, said, "When the perspectives of society and the common sense of the public diverge from those within the host club industry, various problems inevitably arise. We see it as a significant issue when people end up in distress."
Around 40 executives from Kabukicho's host clubs participated in the training, which covered topics such as employer liability for hosts, who are individual business owners, and basic legal knowledge.
The issue of malicious host clubs has become a major problem, with reports of clubs arranging employment in sex-related businesses or prostitution to help clients repay their debts.
